Growing up as the youngest of three boys in Orange County California taught Brian Scott very early on that ‘standing out’ wasn't going to be easy. But Brian was determined to find and develop his gifts that would one day allow him to shine.
When recalling his journey as a singer, Brian notes, “It's difficult to remember exactly when I started singing, but I've always told people that I came out of the womb singing. It has always been a part of who I am and a gift from God that I will always treasure. I must also give thanks to my mother and father for always encouraging me. They have always been my biggest fans. I will always appreciate the fact they never once told me to ‘shut up’, and I love them for that”.
Over the years, his music tastes evolved, and Country Western music became his new musical passion. Garth Brooks hit the scene and Brian was hooked! He knew he had to return to his passion for singing, so he grabbed every Karaoke CD he could find and learned all of his music. Brian’s new musical style was emerging and he began frequenting every Karaoke bar within striking distance where he diligently fine-tuned his ‘boot scoot boogie’.
When Brian turned 40, he decided that he needed a big change – but little did he had no idea how BIG the change was going to be. He packed his bags and moved to a small ski resort town called Ruidoso, New Mexico, to open his own Home Decor and Gift Shop business. Brian took a brief hiatus from karaoke while getting the store opened, but his friends soon convinced him to join them for karaoke at a local restaurant and bar called Lucy’s Mexicali. Brian decided to go and sing one song; and after hearing him, the owner of the restaurant urged him to come back the following week and join the local preliminary competition for the New Mexico Karaoke Championship 2009. Brian entered the competition that night, and put himself on a path to living his lifelong dream. Brian took top male in the New Mexico Championship, and went on to sing in the Karaoke World Championships USA 2009 National Finals where he has placed as top male, and earned the right to represent the United States in the 2009 Karaoke World Championships being held in Lahti Finland.
